East Jewels & Wadi Darbat Full Day – Oman tours in Salalah
- We will head towards Salalah’s east to visit Taqah the old fishing village, which is famous with manufacturing of dried Sardines and its houses with traditional old Dhofari style.
- Then we will visit the 100 years old Taqah Castle, which is the official residence of the governor of the region Taqa, it is a fortified house of the Wali and it is the same as Dhofari houses but with carved doors.
- At the East side of Taqa you will find the ruin of Sumhurum Khor Rori, this town was the outpost of easternmost of the Hadramawt Kingdom which was on the ancient incense route between Persian Gulf the Mediterranean Sea, and India, (Khor Rori) was an important old port and it is found on the Dhofar’s coast.
- Then we will proceed via the mountain down to the ancient capital of Dhofar, it is called the valley of Darbat, it is one of the most famous valleys in Oman, there is a beautiful lake which is almost 300m vertical drop over, it is one of the world’s most stunning natural phenomena.
- Next we will go to Tawi Atayr which is one of the largest sink holes in the world with 211 m of deep and a diameter of 150 m, it is known also as the Well of Birds, because many birds frequent this location, it is a wonderful place to watch birds and the sound of singing birds is the most attractive thing there.
- Then we will go to Jabal Samhan, which has the height of almost 2100 m, we will enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the majestic mountain, camels and Nubian goats are often seen there.
- Next we be driving along the coastal road until we arrive to Mirbat city which was an old city of slave trading and Arabian horses, we will stop to take pictures at Bin Ali tomb (about 800 years old tomb), we will go through Mirbat Castle and the surrounding old merchant Houses there before going back to Salalah.
