At Al Balid Archaeological Park, one of the largest archaeological sites in Oman, you see the ruins of the ancient city of Zufar. Ibn Batuta and Marco Polo came here and described it as a beautiful, large and noble city of the Middle East.
The park's museum, Al Balid Museum of the Frankincense, opened in July 2007. Its collection tells the archaeological and maritime history of Oman.
From there, the tour takes you to the largest mosque in Salalah and through the town's souks of gold, incense and frankincense, past traditional Dhofari houses.
